My parents are both artists & taught me to draw at a very young age. I was allowed to draw on my bedroom walls with markers and watercolors. As soon as I was old enough to go to school I began to write and draw on more walls, but never had anyones permission, so i began to get into a lot of trouble as a little lad. I remember being fascinated by cartoons, comic books, sci-fi and horror movies, and trying to draw certain characters i was fond of like Bambi, Voltron, Bugs Bunny, Skeletor, Stormtroopers & Ewoks, etc....
By the time I was 10, kids in my classes at school would pay me their lunch money to make them posters of their favorite cartoon or comic book characters. Strangely, everyone thought I was odd because I was a skateboarder and would make fun of me because I took pictures of the sky and wore duct tape on my shoes. People just didn't understand it back then. Skateboarding has contributed a lot to who I am as an artist and inspires me very heavily. I will continue to skate until I cant walk anymore.
I fell in love with the art of tattooing at 17 years old. With each tattoo I got, I fell more and more in love with it. I am a focused, driven and very passionate artist and I couldnt be any happier here at High Voltage Tattoo, in Hollywood, tattooing with my very dear friend Katherine Drachenberg. My current goals are to stay focused and do nothing but progress, to become a better tattoo artist with each tattoo I do, and to never stop learning and drawing. The way I see it is, no matter how skilled you are in your craft, We all have a long way to go when striving for satisfaction or perfection. I am my own worst critic and I will probably never be completely satisfied with my art, but that is why I love it. Thats what makes tattooing so fun for me, it keeps me challenged, concerned, and interested. That is why I am an artist and I will continue to tattoo until my hands fall off.
I have become influenced by many artists over the years. Some of my influences include Daniel Clowes, H.R. Giger, Joel-Peter Witkin, Charles Burns, Matt Groening, Pushead, Barry McGee, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mike Giant, Doze Green, Salvador Dali, Glen E. Friedman, Bob Roberts, Henry Lewis, Jeff Zuck, John Macintyre, Dennis Halbritter, Tim Biedron, Chris O'Donnell, Filip Leu, Adam Forman, Joe Foster, Mike Malone, Kore Flatmo, Kat Von D, Linda Fierro, Frank Fierro, and many many more.
In a world ruled by chance, where an unbalanced state of mind is a sense of personal fulfillment. To have a deep interest in all that is artistic. Anti-shallow behavior of some sort. Exercising fluid intelligence and creativity. Having many complexly interrelating parts or elements. A peripheral obscurity. Being positive, productive, astronomical.
